Twelve Colorado resorts made the top 50 list. It’s no surprise that Rocky Mountain states are home to so many highly ranked ski resorts given that the Rockies provide some of the highest elevations in the United States and consistently good snow conditions year after year,” said MtnScoop co-founder Timo Acosta. Vail Ski Resort ranked No. 1 in Colorado, No. 3 in the USA, as the Vail Resort family namesake continues to invest in creating a premier winter vacation experience.
California saw eight resorts make it to the top 50, all of them located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range that runs along the eastern part of the state. Six of the California resorts are in the Lake Tahoe area. Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows was named the No. 1 ski resort in California, and the No. 4 resort in the USA.
Six ski resorts from the Northeast made the top 50 list. And if there was any doubt Vermont was a premier destination for skiers and boarders in the Northeast, Killington Ski Resort in Vermont was ranked the top resort in the Northeast , and Sugarbush Resort , also in Vermont, came in second.
